Each of us has some favorite "goto" tools, that we find ourselves using over and over, in preference to other tools that might work (but no so well) for the same task. Members have provided the following examples. If you have more examples, or would just like to add a vote of endorsement or information about sources for one of these, please e-mail the webmaster.
From William Fisher:
This allows modern hex scredriver bits to be used with the classic Stanley/North Bros. "Yankee" push-style screwdriver. They are available from several sources, including Lee Valley Tools.
From Ted Baker:
This is constructed using what appear to be hacksaw blades. I find that it works better than any of my conventional wood rasps, cutting more smoothly and with very little tendency to clog. There are two sides: coarse and fine. Since I bought this, I only use my other rasps when I need a rounded or narrower profile. I bought mine from Woodcraft but they are available from several vendors. I have the basic one shown below, but there is also a two-handed one with offset handle that looks interesting.
